North Webster Park and Shoreline Project Receives $500,000 in Funding Support

NORTH WEBSTER, Ind. — Residents and community partners gathered in North Webster on Thursday to celebrate a $500,000 Community Amenities Program (CAP) grant supporting the North Webster Park and Shoreline Project, presented by representatives from OrthoWorx and the K21 Health Foundation.

The award supports a series of improvements designed to enhance one of the community’s most important public spaces and strengthen connections between the lakefront and downtown North Webster. The Community Amenities Program, part of the $30 million Orthopedic Industry Retention Initiative (OIRI) grant, is administered by the K21 Health Foundation and is designed to support projects that improve quality of life and public amenities in smaller Kosciusko County communities.

Planned improvements include dredging the shoreline along North Webster Town Park to improve public access to Webster Lake, installing new playground equipment, upgrading the park pavilion and installing two new large-scale murals that will honor the town’s history and lake heritage. The project is guided by the town’s recently completed park plan and aims to create a more welcoming and accessible experience for both residents and visitors.

“We’ve had so many conversations with residents and business owners excited about the revitalization this project will bring to our community,” said North Webster Clerk-Treasurer, Leigh Anne Jessop. “By contributing to our crowdsourcing fund by September 30, donors have the ability to double their impact. We look forward to seeing what we can accomplish as we rally around this project together.”

The campaign is part of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority CreatINg Places program which provides qualifying communities up to $50,000 in matching funds. As the “Heart of the Lakes,” North Webster welcomes residents and visitors throughout the year. Once complete, the project will enhance public access to Webster Lake, improve recreational opportunities, and create a stronger connection between the park, local businesses, and community gathering spaces. The improvements are expected to serve residents and visitors for years to come.
